The Tangled Web....
“What a tangled web we weave, when first we practice to deceive.”-Sir Walter Scott
How much more before this Town Board takes action? It is understood that Mr. Klink & Alberici are long-time friends and staunchly support Mr. Wilson, but at what point does protecting the taxpayer take priority? In light of the fact that there have been additional instances of alleged defrauding the taxpayers, not the initial one charge, suspension should be considered until these legal issues are resolved.
It is hard to discount or explain away any of these charges now. This case has gone through a State Police investigation that resulted in arrest and charges against Mr. Wilson. An initial grand jury that indicted on the SP charges and added an additional charge. A dismissal hearing in which a judge (a democratic party judge for all those claiming politics) dismissed one charge because he claimed there was not enough proof to uphold the charge. A logical mind would deduce that there was enough evidence to support the other charges against Mr. Wilson. Now there has been another grand jury cycle with 9 more counts of similar actions. The previously dismissed charge was also included.
This needs to go to trial and be put to rest for good. A grand jury has 23 jurors, 16 of those jurors who have heard all testimony make a quorum. Of the quorum it takes 12 votes to indict or return a ‘no-bill’. Considering the history; that State Police felt there was enough basis for an arrest, a maximum of 43 to a minimum of 24 grand jurors felt there was cause to indict. That is a whole lot of cause to place Mr. Wilson on suspension.
All Mr. Wilson’s explanations now just look suspect as he only claimed responsibility for the one time while his son was on 2 weeks reserves training. Why not come clean up front and state there were instances in June and August also? Why so much training for reserves? One weekend a month and 2 weeks in the summer is typical for reservists. Since the son was part-time and the highway department does not work Friday-Sunday during the summer months, his weekend training would not be an issue.
The initial charge was blamed on a clerical error. Why wouldn’t Mr. Wilson simply produce the orders every reservist gets for training, the minutes of the meeting where it was decided reservists would be paid or proof that they money was paid back employee was paid in error? Had any of this existed Mr. Wilson would have been able to present it to the grand juries and this would be moot.
“Deception is a false reality imposed on a true reality. It is a fragile and complex weaving of truth, half-truths', lies, and lies of omission. To successfully deceive another or several people, one must be skilled in the art of deception. To create a deception worthy of belief one must be able to create plausible details that help create the illusion of truth. It is the details that people listen to and remember and the one deceiving is obligated to remember these details in order to avoid having the lie exposed. Most people are basically good and we tend to forget the bad things people have done. In order to successfully perpetuate deception, the liar must be willing to live that lie when necessary. This becomes the tangled web we weave, especially when first we practice to deceive.” – Sir Walter Scott's Quote
