Highway Superintendant Election Letter

Dear Resident:

I am up for re-election as Highway Superintendent this year. I want to thank you for your support in the past years and t am asking for your continued support in this election.
i have been an employee of the Town of Owasco since 1986. In 1993, i took over as Highway Superintendent when John Dean retired I have been married to my wife Beth for 26 years. We have 2 grown children and 2 grandchildren.

As Highway Supenntendent our town roads are top priority. I am up at 3:00 am every day during the winter months checking our roads and getting my employees out with me to either plow or sand so the roads are safe for all the residents. We keep our ditches maintained, roads paved, brush picked up during the summer months and leaves during the fall. As a lot of you know, i am usually working right along with the highway workers. I am not one to sit around in an office doing paper work. I enjoy the physical labor of my job.

As some of you may have heard or read in the newspaper, I am in the middle of an unfortunate legal situation, in the summer the town hires college students to work as "summer laborers". In 2006 we did not have any applicants, so my son was hired as a summer laborer. He is a college student and in the Army Reserves as an MP He was scheduled to be away for mandatory training 7/17/06 - 7/28/06. My son is still in the Army Reserves and will be deployed in January to serve his country. I was under the impression that employers usually pay their employee's when they are at mandatory training for the military, t asked around, researched and came to the conclusion I should pay him and I did When it came time to fill out his timesheet I forgot to write on the sheet he was away at training There was a transition of bookkeepers at that time and it was brought to the attention of the Town Board a few months later I met with the town supervisor and some board members At the end of the meeting, they all agreed he should have been paid and that it was not a problem. At the time it was determined that it was simply a clerical error. This is what I am fighting in court.

I believe my intentions were honest and whether it was my son or another college student in the same position I would still have paid that person.

It is my right to fight these charges, as I am doing, and I am asking you to remember that a person is innocent until proven guilty in this country. I hope that you can show your support on Election Day and vote for me to continue as Highway Superintendent for the Town of Owasco, so I can continue to work for you.

If you have any questions or concerns please call me at 255-xxxx.

Sincerely,
Michael L. Wilson

What is it that you are trying to prove by showing this letter. All the previous charges and current ones all stem from this incident. His son is serving OUR country so YOU and everyother asshole can have your Freedom of speech and this is how they are repayed. You people really need to get a hobby and stop putting down innocent until proven guilty people. There is a limit to how much a person can handle and how bad will all of you feel when he is proven to be innocent and you have done nothing but ruin this man and his families life for the past few years. Grow up!! And go find something else to do!!!

No, not just hypocrites, selfish, self-centered SOB's. They are despreately trying to save their own butts and as usual anyone but the ones who committed the alleged acts are to blame and fair game. I say bring the whole lot of them down!

How dare you use "serving our country" as an excuse!! Because he is in the reserves gives him the right to steal??? My father served in WWII and my two brothers are full military. They would be offened at such a thought. The young Wilson made a chose the join the military. He was trained and paid to do so and when the time comes and he is called to duty that is his job!! Believe me I have stood by and watched my brothers at harm way and I know it isn't easy but they always tell me thats what they are trained for.
And what's this "we did not have any applicants" business???Was the job advertised??? This is a part time job how would he qualify for pay? When I take time off from my PART TIME JOB (to get training for my other part time job)I do it on my own time. Mr Wilson has no one to blame but himself for his poor judgment!

I like how Klink and Wilson have no comment. They sure have a comment when you go and pay your water bill. Or when I go up and get rid of trash at the town barn. Hate to tell you guys but there are a lot of the town residents that are fed up with your BS. Just because we do not disagree with you when we see you means nothing. We know how your little gang at town hall makes sure your brush pile will not get picked up or what ever you can think up if you disagree with what you say. You then will be bad mouthed like all the rest that disagree with you. I hope the attorney general comes in and cleans town hall out.

I find it almost laughable if it were not so sad that the best this town has to offer up for the Highway Supervisor is someone under nine-count felony indictment charges. I agree a person is innocent until proven guilty; However Mr. Wilsons letter is less than honest. In it, he cites having met with the Town Supervisor (who was not Mr. Klink at the time) and that “they all agreed he should be paid and it was not a problem”. The truth is that the supervisor who was in office at the time- Town Supervisor Badman - stated in a letter that HE requested the investigation because he was concerned the board would not follow through on the problems upon his resignation. One of those problems was the questionable pay to Wilson’s son. Secondly, Mr. Wilson recalls the time his son was on active reserve duty stating it was between 7/17-7/28/2006. Yet the charges are clear that he falsified time sheets for June 2006 and August 2006. Lastly, the transition in bookkeepers he speaks of was his wife of 26 years. I find it almost incredible that Mr. Wilson had the audacity to put in writing what he did, asking the resident of Owasco to over look the holes in his story and support him on election day. Give me a break! You will have to do better than this Mr. Wilson! This town cannot afford to have someone on the payroll who pays his family at will, never charges himself for his own water usage and this is what we know of as of today. The town residents need to pay attention and stop this status quo mentality. And in order to do that, it should start the change with you Mr. Wilson!

Sounds totally beleivable and reasonable to me. NOthing I've seen yet in the papers makes me think he will be convicted of any wrongdoing.

2011 people...WHY HAS THIS NOT GONE TO TRIAL?????? I think it's time the citizens of Owasco demand that "he have his day in court"! If I was innocent I would have made sure that this be put to rest in a timely manner. Makes you wonder why Wilson would drag this out so long, hmmm
